What is the typical time it takes for someone to complete your PhD program?
Philip Smith
01:21:48
No, the students entering have varied science or engineering degrees. We will look for solid math and chemistry preparation, but some students have biochem/biology degrees and do very well.
Garima Khanna
01:22:11
Can you share more on the R21 proposal?
Philip Smith
01:23:11
Typical time to finish the PhD will be mentioned by Dr. Ainslie, but generally an average of 5 years, with some as quick as 4 years.

How many references would we need?
Adeline Wagner
01:25:43
If my lab experience is in drug delivery, but I only have up to survey of organic chemistry in coursework from undergrad (major in BME), would that be okay, or would you recommend taking more chemistry courses before applying to this program?
Philip Smith
01:27:11
The Qualifying Exam has a take home written exam that is followed by an R21 style proposal (6 pages single spaced) that is in the area of pharmaceutics. This R21 is then presented with slides to a subcomte of 5 faculty - an oral defense of the proposal.
